MVC Involving Motorcycle

On Sunday May the 15th the LFD along with SCEMS and Trooper 2 were dispatched to a MVC on Laurel road involving a motorcycle. SCEMS (102) arrived on scene first and found a priority one patient with numerous fractures. Laurel BLS arrived and assisted Medics with patient care and packaging. Rescue 81 responded with Chief Engineer Richard Russell and arrived on scene and immediately shut Laurel road down. Medics advised that Trooper 2 would be utilized so crews established a landing zone near scene. E-3 and E-4 assisted in landing zone and traffic control. Patient was stabilized and packaged and then Airlifted to PRMC. An additional EMS crew obtained a patient refusal from the driver of the other vehicle. Laurel road was then opened to one lane traffic with crews assisting DSP with clean up. Chief Engineer Russell placed incident under control at 1119 hours. Last 81 units were in service at 1204 turning scene over to DSP for further investigation. The operator of the motorcycle was wearing a helment, and saved her from sudden death, however later that afternoon she could not overcome her fatal injuries sustained.
