Driver Lucky On Early Morning Crash

On early Sunday morning May 22nd at approx. 0412 hours the LFD along with SCEMS (102) and Trooper 2 were alerted for a MVA with rollover on Sussex highway south of Laurel. Asst. Chief Steve Brittingham arrived on scene and established Sussex highway command. Fire/EMS crews found a pick-up truck off the highway on its top with the patient out of the vehicle. EMS crews checked the patient on scene and no injuries were found. EMS advised that Trooper 2 would not be needed and they could go in service. Rescue workers checked and secured the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle refused transport, and EMS crews obtained a patient refusal from him. Asst. Chief Brittingham placed incident under control at 0429 hours. Last units were in station at 0448.
