Pine Grove Road House Fire

Laurel Makes Quick Response a House Fire October 17th at 10:59pm, Sussex EOC alerted Laurel, Delmar, Sharptown Fire Departments along with SCEMS for a reported house fire on Pine Grove Rd in Hollywood’s Park. Due to Engine 813 being staffed at a pre-arranged stand by at one of our haunted houses. They left immediately after dispatch with a crew of 4 under direction of Chief Engineer Mark Oliphant. 81 Command went responding with Chief Hill. Command arrived to find a single-story ranch style home with fire showing from Side A. Engine 3 arrived first due and pulled a cross lay to the front door and made a quick knock on the fire. Engine 81-4 with a crew of six arrived second and split crews for primary and secondary searches and assisting Engine 3s crew with fire suppression. Asst Chief Mike Lowe was assigned as operations. Truck 14 arrived and went to the roof to prepare for ventilation. Engine Tanker 14 arrived and supplied Engine 3 and their crew assisted with overhaul. Truck 74 arrived and had their crew sent up with tools. Once the fire was knocked down and crews made access to the attic and found no extension, the situation was placed under control and crews remained on scene for overhaul. A positive pressure van was set up at the front door to finish up ventilation. After extensive overhaul, crews returned when ready.
