MVA With Extrication

On February 5th at approx 2220 hours the LFD along with SCEMS, and Ambulance 14 (Sharptown) were alerted to a MVA with entrapment on Sharptown Road just east of the Delaware/Maryland line. Chief Mark Sheridan responded in Command 81 and arrived first to find a single vehicle on its side, with one patient trapped inside. Ambulance 14 arrived next and began treatment of the injuried driver. Ambulance 81 and SCEMS arrived and provided assistance to the EMS crew from Sharptown. Rescue 81 arrived with Asst. Chief Alan Schweitzer. Chief Sheridan advised them to prepare for extrication. The crew from Rescue 81 stabilized the vehicle with Pratech Struts and cribbing. Rescue workers flaped the roof, and the patient was extricated from the vehicle. Additional manpower was utilized for a handline from Engine 4 during the extrication. One patient was transported wth no life threatening injuries to NMH by Ambulance 14. The incident was placed under control at 2301. Last units cleared the scene and were placed in service at 2323 hours.
