Marine And Dive Team Assist Blades

On April 3rd the LFD was alerted along with the Seaford and Sharptown Fire Departments to assist Blades with a Water Rescue at the Concord Pond. Four Departments worked well for approx. Five hours searching for the missing fisherman. Marine units and Divers searched the Concord Pond and spillway with negative results of the fisherman; however the boat was recovered from under the bridge. Rescue workers battled rough currents on account of previous heavy rainfall on Delmarva. After a long afternoon the search was finally called off. The next morning the body was discovered by SCEMS Supervisor Jay Myers when driving thru checking the spillway one more time. Blades and Seaford divers then recovered the body and turned it over to the Medical Examiner for autopsy.
