Alarm System Prevents Working House Fire

On Sunday, April 17, 2005 at 0605 hours; Station 81, Laurel was alerted for a reported house fire along with Delmar and Gumboro Fire Departments. Deputy 81 (Hill) arrived on location to find a one story rancher style house with smoke showing from the roof. Engine 79-1 with 79-15 (DeFelice) then arrived on location and his crew advanced a 1 3/4'''' hand line in through the rear of the structure. Shortly thereafter, other 81 and 74 units arrived on location. Command had crews ladder side ?B? of the structure. Crews inside the structure found fire inside the walls and were able to extinguish it before it spread to the attic or other areas of the house. The cause of the fire is believed to be the wood stove. The home owners were awaken because of there smoke detectors and home security system.
