On Thursday June 23rd at approx. 1044 hours the LFD along with SCEMS (107) and Trooper2, were dispatched to a MVC with Rescue requested, at the intersection of County Seat Highway and Sussex Highway. Medic 107 arrived on scene first and started ALS care. After evaluation of the patients Medic 107 cancelled Trooper 2. An additional ambulance was alerted to the scene from Blades due to second Emergency in Laurel. Rescue 81 arrived on the scene at 1052 with Rescue Lt. Jim Furbush. At this time Rescue Lt. Jim Furbush established Command of the incident. Lt. Furbush checked the vehicle and determined that a door removal would be needed to extricate the driver. Rescue workers go to work on stabilizing the vehicle for extrication. Ambulance B-81 arrived and assisted ALS with care of both patients in the vehicle. Rescue workers completed extrication at approx. 1105 hours. The two patients were rapidly extricated and transported to NMH by ALS units from Laurel and Blades. The driver of the tractor-trailer refused treatment on scene. Lt. Furbush placed incident under control at 1110 hours, holding units on scene for extensive clean up. Sharptown A-14 provided a cover up in Laurel with an Ambulance during incident. Last units were clear and in service at 1141 hours.
