At 1116 hours on Friday September 16th Station 81 was alerted for a reported field fire. Brush 81-0 & Engine-Tanker 5 responded and arrived on location to find a field fire. After several minutes of working on scene, 81-19 requested an additional brush truck out of 71. While Brush 71-1 was en-route the crews working on scene then requested additional help. Deputy 81 arrived on scene & established command.
Due to high winds out of the northeast at 10-15 mph & dry corn shucks, the fire spread rapidly. The crews working the east side of the fire utilized the farmer?s irrigation system to stop the fire from spreading in that direction.
Engines & brush trucks were utilized in the field to contain the fire. Tankers staged on the roadway to refill all engines & brush trucks.
The situation was placed under control at 1307 hours with all units clearing at 1455 hours.
