Truck Company Assist Station 87

On Sunday evening July the 9th at approx. 1922 hours, the LFD was alerted to assist the Seaford Fire Department on a structure fire at Chandler Heights. Tower 81 with Assistant Chief Brittingham responded and arrived on scene and assisted Ladder Tower 87 with fire extinguishment in the roof area. Tower 81 worked the north and east sides of the building extinguishing flames and overhauling remaining hot spots. Rescue 81 and Engine 3 crews assisted in salvage and overhaul in the first floor of the building. The blaze took approx. 2 hours to control, with Command 87 placing incident under control at 2024 hours. Despite the efforts of firefighters extensive damage throughout the building was done by fire, smoke, or water displacing eight families. Last 81 units were back in service at 2254 hours.

The LFD would like to thank the Gumboro Fire Company for providing a stand-by crew in Laurel for the duration of the alarm.
