On August 04, 2006 at 0813 hours Station 81 was alerted for a Motor Vehicle Collision on Sussex Highway and Route 24. A-81 and B-81 responded and arrived on location to find a mini-van which was struck in the rear by a tractor trailer. Due to the number of patients the EMS crew upgraded the call to a BLS Level 1 MCI. There were a total of 6 patients that need to be assessed. Five patients were transported to NMH or PRMC. 81-15 arrived on Engine 2 and established command. Chief Sheridan had the crew from Engine 2 and Rescue 81 assist the EMS crew with packaging the patients and securing the mini-van and the tractor trailer. Command placed the situation under control at 0847 hours.
The accident is still being investigated by the Delaware State Police.
