Driver Escapes Serious Injury In Multiple Rollover
Saturday, December 2, 2006

On December 2, 2006 at approx. 1153 hours, the Laurel Fire Department along with SCEMS (102) and Trooper 2, were dispatched to a MVA with multiple rollover on woodland ferry road. Deputy Chief Hill arrived on scene, and advised of a pole completely broken off with wires down. As incoming BLS/ALS units were approaching, command advised of one patient with no entrapment. BLS/ALS packaged the patient for transport, while Rescue personnel secured the scene and vehicle. Trooper 2 was placed into service by Medics on scene. One patient was transported by Medic B-81 to NMH. Deputy Chief Hill placed the incident under control at 1216 hours. Last 81 units were back in service at 1223 hours.

Speculation was the operator was not wearing a seatbelt, which threw him into the rear crew cab of the truck. The drivers occupancy area was disproportion beyond what we believe the operator could of withstood if he remained in the drivers seat. High speed was a factor in the accident.

Units on Scene: Command 81, B-81, A-81, E-2, Rescue 81, SCEMS 102, DSFP, DSP.
