Laurel on 2nd Alarm Building Fire In Delmar
Sunday, September 9, 2007

On the afternoon of September the 6th the Delmar Fire Dept. was alerted for a building fire on Pennsylvania Ave on the Maryland side of town. After numerous calls were being taken by Wicomico dispatch, an upgrade on the call was made placing Salisbury (2) and Hebron (5) on the assignment.

Chief Joe Morris Jr. (74-15) arrived on scene and advised of a working building fire. At this time he requested a 2nd alarm to be struck, bring Salisbury (16) Parsonsburg (6) and Laurel (81) to the scene. Rescue 16 and RE-604 were diverted to a second emergency in Delmar for a MVC. Laurel E-3 arrived and assisted in overhaul of the interior. Tower 81 arrived and assisted Truck 2 with ventilation of the roof.

Firefighters worked for approx. an hour to bring the blaze under control. The fire was contained to one apartment, leaving smoke and moderate water damage done to two others. A good firewall kept the fire from destroying multiple units. Delmar units remained on scene until approx. 1800 hours.
