Structure Fire - South Poplar Street

On Friday August 29, 2008 at approximatelly 2230 hours Laurel Fire Department along with neighboring fire departments from both Delmar and Sharptown and medic 102 were dispatched for a reported working structure fire on South Poplar Street. Command went responding with Chief Mark Sheridan. Command arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the third floor. Engine 2 arrived on scene with Asst Chief Alan Schweitzer shortly after and pulled a hand line into the structure to the third floor. The fire was then contained and extinguished by the crew. Tower 81 arrived and started to ventilation while the crews from 74 and 14 assisted. Situation was placed under control at approximatelly 2300 hours. Last units cleared at approximatelly 0030 hours. Units on Scene were: Command 81,81-2,81-4,Tower 81,81-6, A-81, B-81, 74-2, Rescue 74, Truck 14,1404,Medic 102,FM10 and 81 Fire Police 71-5 Responded for cover up assignment.
