Working House Fire on Center Street - Laurel

On Sunday evening 12/14 at 20:05 Laurel Fire Dept. was alerted for a house fire in the 500 block of Center Street. Delmar and Sharptown Fire Dept. were alerted for mutual aid along with Medic 102. Asst. Chief Jeff Hill responded as Center Street Command. Hill arrived to find a two story wood frame structure with heavy fire evident from sides 1,2 and 4. Eng. 81-2 responded with Deputy Chief Mike Lowe as officer. Eng. 2's crew attacked the fire from the front of the house. Lowe was assigned interior officer. Tower 81 responded with Chief Steve Brittingham. Command order the Tower to set up on the 1,2 side and make access to the roof. Eng 81-4 arrived from the west side and assisted with the attack at the front of the house and established water supply to Tower 81. Eng. 74-2, with Deputy Chief Joe Morris, Jr. took water supply from a hydrant about a block away and set up water supply to Eng. 81-2. Eng. 1402 arrived from Sharptown and were assigned R.I.T. The fire was suspicious in nature and is being investigated by the Fire Marshal's office. Units cleared at about 23:30 hours.
