On Sat, morning 7/11 at 6:54 am LFD, Medic 102 and Trooper 2 were alerted for a MVC with ejection on Seaford Hwy, north of Bethel Road. Deputy Chief Mike Lowe responded as 81 Command. While en route Lowe was advised that reports were of a vehicle into a house with multiple pediatric ejections. Lowe immediately requested an additional EMS unit from Blades. Upon arrival Lowe found, as reported, a vehicle into a house. EMS Lt. Brandon Givens was on scene and began triage. Rescue 81 arrived with Asst. Chief Eric Whaley. His crew assisted EMS and assessed the scene. Engine 81-4 arrived with Asst. Chief Tim Walker and assessed the damage to the structure. Engine 81-2 arrived with Chief Steve Brittingham who was assigned the landing zone should it be necessary. Asst. Chief Walker assessed the scene and reported to Command and it was determined to activate the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team due to the damage to the structure. Two occupants of the home were uninjured. One resident was sleeping on a couch against the wall that was compromised by impact. Three pediatric patients and one adult was transported. Technical Rescue Operations were overseen by Cotton Collins. Units remained on the scene until about 9:30 hours.
