On January 17th the Delmarva Volunteer Firemen's Association, the State Fire Commission and the Delaware Children's Fire Safety Foundation conducted their annual Fire Safety Awards Program. This year it was held at the Cheswold Fire Company, Banquet Hall. As a part of the Awards the Delaware Children's Fire Safety Foundation presented Laurel's Adam Ryan with it's SafeTbear Hero Award for efforts he preformed. On October 7th Adam was walking home from his school bus stop when he encountered a serious injured gentleman lying in his yard. Adam attempted to assist the individual, called 911 and assisted the EMS Crew upon their arrival. Adam is a 9th grade student at Sussex Tech, an active member of the ROTC and says he looks forward to becoming a Laurel Fire Dept. Cadet. We congratulate Adam on the recognition that he received.
