On Sunday at 11:57 hours LFD, Georgetown, Blades Fire Companies and Medic 200 were alerted for a structure fire at the intersection of E. Elliotts Dam Road and Johnson Road. Deputy Chief Mike Lowe responded as 81 Command. While en route Lowe was advised that reports were of a vacant house well involved. Medic 200 Myers arrived on scene and relayed information to Command confirming the report. Eng 81-4 was on scene first with Asst. Chief Tim Walker who was assigned operations and Division One at the rear of the House. Immediately hand lines were pulled to protect exposures. Engine 81-2 arrived with Asst. Chief Eric Whaley as Officer and was assigned Division Two at the front and A B Side of the house. Eng/Tanker 71-2 arrived from Blades. Asst. Chief Brian Callaway was assigned water supply and advised that Tanker 77 was arriving on scene and an additional Tractor Trailer Tanker had been requested from Millsboro. Eng. 77-4 arrived with Chief Penuel Barrett and set up a staging area in front of the structure. A defensive operation was put in place due to the building being unsafe. Fire Marshal Woody Magee arrived and began an investigation.
