Clogged Dryer Vent Suspected in Wexford Village Apt. Fire - Wexford Village

On June 25th,LFD was alerted for a building fire at 18:25 hours at 45 Wexford Village. Engine 81-2 responded with F/F Alan Schweitzer as Officer. Eng. 81-3 responded from the Gerald Brown Sycamore Substation with Asst. Chief Tim Walker as officer. Upon arrival Eng. 2 found smoke showing from the unit. Crews made entry through the front door and found fire in the utility room. Crews front 81-3 searched the remainder of the apt. and found heavy heat and smoke conditions throughout the unit. Tower 81 arrived on scene with Capt. Dwayne Chaffinch as officer. A quick, effective knockdown by attack crews prevented the fire from extending any further. Fire Marshal John Galaska arrived and instructed firefighters to remove the dryer from the utility area. The fire appeared to have started in the vent system of the unit. Units cleared the scene at approximately 19:30 hours.
