On July 3rd the town Independence Day activities ended with the Annual Fireworks Celebration. The Fire Dept. staged units at critical areas around town to attempt access around massive amounts of traffic. Deputy Chief Mike Lowe acted as Incident Command. Asst. Chief Jeff Hill acted as EMS Command in the downtown area. As traffic began flowing at 22:30 hours Command was advised to stand by for dispatch. A MVC was reported on Sussex Hwy. south of COunty Seat Hwy. The nearest units were Eng. 81-2 with Capt. Dwayne Chaffinch as officer and BLS Unit A-14. Eng. 2 arrived on scene with Command. Deputy Chief Lowe established Sussex Hwy. Command. Asst. Chief Chaffinch began Triage of the scene and advised Command there were four patients and four possible refusals. Command requested EOC alert two additional BLS units. Brush 81-0 arrived from the Brown Substation with Asst. Chief Tim Walker as officer who assumed Operations of the scene. All patients were assessed and removed from the incident and the scene secured in about 30 minutes.
