Cadets participate in Hands On Firefighter Safety and Survival Class - Laurel DE

On Sunday Sept. 26 Lt. Trevor Steedman from Strike The Box Training presented a Hands-On-Training class on Firefighter Safety & Survival to the Cadet firefighters from Laurel and Seaford. Topics included: Self-rescue Techniques, Search methods, RIT/RIC, and Safety & Survival techniques and methods with an emphasis on how to stay out of trouble in the first place! Trevor is a 23 year veteran of the Fire Service and the proud Owner of Strike the Box Training, LLC. Trevor has had the privilege of traveling to departments in the Mid-Atlantic region, the Mid West, and Baltimore City to instruct, consult, or speak. He was deployed as a Team Leader (Operation Lifeline) during Hurricane Katrina and served at the request of a neighboring State on their Incident Management Team in the wake of a LODD. Cadet firefighters from Laurel and Seaford practiced the techniques of ladder bail outs and tool bailouts. It was stressed to our future firefighters that this is only used in extreme situations with conditions deteriorate and they have no other means of egress from the structure. Trevor was assisted by Cadet instructors Keith LeCates, Mark Sheridan, Mark Oliphant, Brady Taylor, Byron Taylor, and Mike Moore. We would like to thank Trevor for an excellent training opportunity.
