On November 15th, 2010 around 1900 hours while enroute to attend Tower training, the Laurel Fire Department was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident on West Street. Deputy Chief Mike Lowe responded in 81 Command and arrived on location to find a two vehicle accident at the intersection with two subjects trapped in one of the vehicles. Tower 81 under the direction of Assistant Chief Jeff Hill arrived next and took a position behind the scene and began to setup rescue efforts. Rescue 81 arrived on location next and the crew began to stabilize the vehicles to prepare for extrication of the two victims. The driver of the second vehicle had fled the scene prior to the arrival of Fire/EMS personnel. Rescue crews stabilized the overturned vehicle and performed a roof flap to free the two trapped victims. Both patients were packaged and transported by EMS with non life threatening injuries. Situation was placed under control at 19:35 with all units clearing by 20:55.
