On Christmas Day at 1647 Sussex EOC dispatched Laurel Fire Department to a structure fire at 513 Spruce Street. 81 Command responded with Deputy Chief M Sheridan and arrived on scene to find a 2 story wood-frame structure with nothing evident from sides A-B-D. Engine 2 arrived on scene under the direction of AC D Layton. Layton’s crew found a light smoke condition in the residence and found the fire to be contained to the furnace. Tower 81 under the direction of AC LeCates had the crew check the chimney. Engine 3 was staged at the corner of E 5th Street and Spruce Street. Units remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes.
