On Wednesday February 9th at 1100 Sussex EOC dispatched Laurel Fire Department for a BLS Vehicle Accident on County Seat Highway. Command 81 responded with Fire Chief Jeff Hill and arrived on scene to find a single vehicle that had side swiped a utility pole. Chief Hill immediately upgraded the call and requested Medic 102 and DSP Trooper 2 for a priority patient trapped in the vehicle. Rescue 81 responded with Deputy Chief Mark Sheridan and arrived on scene to take Operations. The crew prepared for a rescue. Asst. Chief Donnie Layton was the extrication officer. The extrication time was less than ten minutes with the patient being rapidly extricated to the EMS unit. A81 transported a priority 1 patient to NMH. Units remained on the scene to assist DSP with traffic and the closing of County Seat Highway.
