For several days the Laurel Fire Department responded to the Laurel grain mill for a silo fire. After several attempts and hours to extinguish the silo filled with corn, fire crews knew they needed to get the tank empty. So firefighters assisted by the workers on site cut holes in the tank to flush out the corn. This process work well to clear the tank and finally extinguish the smoldering corn. While firefighters were working to clear the tank, Laurel assisted by several other Departments responded to a Vehicle Accident and a Large Barley field fire. Overall 6 incidents were handled that day.
