On 1-24-2013 in very frigid weather the Bridgeville Fire Department, Seaford Fire Department, Blades Fire Department, Laurel Fire Department and the Sharptown Fire Department were alerted for a water rescue on Oak Rd east of Bridgeville. Units arrived on scene to find a Chevy Avalanche into a large body of water. EMS crews were unsure if there were any occupants still inside the vehicle. Delaware State Police ran the tag number and the vehicle came back as stolen. A truck from Chambers Towing and Recovery was called in to assist with the removal of the vehicle. Dive teams were used to connect a tow cable to the underside of the vehicle to be pulled out. Once on land it was determined that the vehicle had no one inside and the alarm was placed under control. Units were on scene for nearly 2 hours.
