On Wednesday evening January 22nd at 1817 hours, the Laurel, Blades, and Seaford Fire Departments were alerted for a House Fire in Bethel. Asst. Chief Whaley arrived on scene to find a 2 1/2 story balloon construction house with fire showing from the C side of the structure. First arriving Engine 71-3 advanced a hose line into the rear of the structure and made their attack. Engine 81-4 arrived and advanced a secondary hose line to the division 2 level and began fire suppression. Engine 81-2 and Tanker 71 arrive and crews assist with pulling ceilings and a 3rd hose line into the structure to advance to attic. Tower 81 arrives and sets up on the D side of the structure and crew ventilates the roof and throws ground ladders. Tanker 87 arrives and provides water and additional manpower. Fire Crews did a good job in extinguishing the fire and minimizing the damage to mostly smoke and water. The fire is believed to have started by a heater. Asst. Chief Whaley placed the incident under control at 1925 hours. Last fire units cleared the scene at 2023 hours.
