On Tuesday Sept. 15th LFD was alerted for a Fire Nature Unknown at 10716 Georgetown Road at the Laurel Grain Mill. Engine 81-4 responded with Asst. Chief Tim West as Officer. Upon responding 81-4 was advised that Laurel Police were on the scene and now reporting fire showing from the grain dryer.
Engine 4 went on scene an confirmed the earlier report. Asst Chief West assumed Command and requested the alarm be upgraded o a structure fire bringing a second alarm for Laurel, as well as a response from Blades, Seaford and Sussex County EMS.
Eng./Tanker 81-5 arrived on location and set up water supply to Eng. 4 as it attacked the fire which was about 30 feet above ground. Tower 81 arrived on scene and set up on the A / D corner. Eng/Tanker 71-2 established water supply to the Tower. Tower 87 arrived on scene along with 87-5 and set up on the D side. The fire was attacked from the aerial and contained to he area of origin in the dryer.
Units cleared the scene at 00:50 hours.
