MVC With Entrapment

On Sunday afternoon Jan 24th at 15:40 hours LFD was alerted for a MVC on Dorothy Road near the intersection of Sussex Hwy. Arriving units actually located the incident on Sussex Hwy. just north of the Dorothy Road/Whitesville Road intersection. Tower 81 responded with a full crew. Arriving on scene it was confirmed that a Ford Explorer was on it's side in a ditch with on person confirmed trapped. Fire Chief Mike Lowe assumed Command with Deputy Chief Tim West being assigned Extrication Officer. The explorer was stabilzed and a roof removal executed. A second vehicle in the intersection was found to have four occupants, all with minor injuries or no injuries at all. A third BLS unit was requested from Delmar and a fourth from Blades. All patients were transported or completed refusals. The scene was then turned over to Delaware State Police.
