Homeowner Contains Fire

At 22:17 hours LFD, along with Blades, Georgetown and Sussex EMS were alerted for a house fire on Dukes Lumber Road. Fire Chief Mike Lowe responded as 81 Command. Eng./Tnk 81-5 responded from Sta. 2 and was first on scene with Asst. Chief Rob Givens taking Operations. While en route Sussex Medic Unit 102 advised they were on scene with a house charged with smoke and the fire contained to the bathroom. Eng 81-4 responded with Capt. Zac Lecates as officer. Crews made entry and found the bathroom to be heavily damaged however fire was very minimal and was extinguished with a water can. Crews from Eng. 2 and 81-4 began smoke removal and salvage. It was determined that the fire started from an unattended candle in the bathroom. The homeowner was in possession of a Fire Extinguisher and hit the fire containing it to the room of origin. Units cleared the scene at about 23:15 hours.
