Think Safety this July 4th Weekend

The The Laurel Fire Dept. urges residents to use fireworks with caution ahead of the Fourth of July holiday. Sparklers, which burn at over 1,200 degrees, are often handled by children for the holiday. They're also one of the leading causes of fireworks injuries, according to a National Fire Protection Association news release, According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, an average of 250 people a day go to the emergency room with fireworks -related injuries in the month around the patriotic holiday. Delaware State Fire School Senior Instructor, Mike Lowe, said public shows are the safest way to enjoy fireworks.
