3 Alarm Fire in Downtown Laurel

On the early morning hours of January 18, 2023 Sussex County Fire Box station 81 was struck for commercial building fire in Laurel. Shortly before 1:00am, Laurel, Blades, Delmar, Seaford and Sussex County EMS were alerted for a fire, in a 3-story commercial building at 130 E. Market Street in Laurel, Delaware. Arriving units found smoke and fire showing on all 3 floors. The incident was upgraded to a 2nd alarm after first 81 Engine arrived. A 3rd alarm was struck shorty after bringing Fire and EMS units from many area fire departments, including Sharptown, Georgetown, Gumboro, Hebron, Mardela Springs, Millsboro, Bridgeville, Salisbury Fire to the scene. Greenwood, Farmington and Selbyville to provide cover ups for various stations. Fire crews were on scene all night to contain the blaze. Thanks to all the Fire/EMS personnel who responded to assist Laurel on this incident. Fire remains under investigation by DSFM Office and ATF. Asst. Chief Brandon Givens had Command of the incident.
