LFD Annual Recognition Night

On February 14th the Laurel Fire Department celebrated Valentine?s Day and held its annual Recognition Night. Lifetime member and Fire Policeman Brian Whaley served as Master of Ceremonies for the event that was attended by about 250 people.

After dinner catered by Eming?s of Millsboro, Delaware, local public officials, members of the business community and neighboring fire department officers were recognized.

Awards were given for those who were top responders in EMS and Fire Responses. Service Awards were given to Kevin Brumbley 5 yrs, Keith Lecates and Wendy Lowe 15yrs., Greg Adkins 25 yrs, Ron Scott and Gary Flood 30 yrs., Bill Hearn and Calvin Hearn 40 yrs and Edward ?Punk? Callaway 60 yrs.

Top EMS Responders were Jeff Hill, Shawn Kee, Mike Lowe, Wendy Lowe, Richie Condon, Jamie Hickerson, Todd Smith, Jay Myers, Kathy Myers and Dwayne Chaffinch.

Top fire responders were Jeff Hill, Bill Hill, Bill Hearn, Dwayne Chaffinch, Todd Smith, Mike Lowe, Mark Sheridan, Jim Furbush, Shawn Kee, Alan Scweitzer and Jay Myers.

Laurel Fire Policeman, John Bowden, Gary Holloway, Alan Carey, Ron Scott and Brian Whaley made 1084 responses between them for the year.

Some special achievement awards were given as Glenn Adams received the Chief?s Award for Excellence in Training. The Fire Department?s Rookie of the Year was Donnie Grant and Richard Russell was given the 2003 Firefighter Service Award for his lifetime contributions to the Fire Department.
