On Tuesday evening September the 13th at approx. 2043 hours the LFD, with automatic mutual aid from Blades and Seaford Fire Departments were dispatched to a House fire on Chipmans Chase drive in Laurel. Asst. Chief Steve Brittingham arrived on scene to find a single story dwelling, with fire venting from the ridge point area of the structure. E-4 arrived on scene with Chief Mark Sheridan. Chief Sheridan and crew advanced a hose line into the attic area and quickly extinguished the fire. Interior crews then faced heat and smoke conditions while checking for fire extension throughout the attic. E/T -5 and Rescue 81 arrived and supplied water, lighting, and manpower. E 71-9 and Tower 87 arrived and assisted in ventilation of the roof and overhaul. Additional units from Blades and Seaford arrived on scene and assisted in salvage and overhaul. Asst. Chief Brittingham placed the incident under control at 2123 hours. The fire was contained to the area of orgin in the attic, leaving minor water damage to the garage and kitchen of the home. Last units were placed in service at 2245 hours.
