On Wednesday, November 30, 2005 Firefighter/Engineer William ?Billy? Hill answered his last alarm. Billy was still an active member with the Department up to his departure, and will be missed dearly. Billy was someone you could count on to do any task. He supported the Fire Department and the community in any way he could. He was an Engineer that could be counted on to arrive first at the firehouse and drive that first piece of apparatus out on a daily basis. A top responder with the Department for many years. Billy was a devoted lifetime member of the Laurel Fire Department for 44 years. He was proud of his accomplishments within the fire service, which included induction into The Firemen?s Historical Foundation in 1995, induction into the Delmarva Firefighters Hall of Fame in 1996, 1st Honoree of Laurel Fire Department Firefighter Service Award in 1989, 1st Rescue Captain of Laurel Fire Department, and he served as Ambulance Captain, on the board of trustees, and was a longtime engineer. God Bless our fallen brother William ? Billy? Hill.
