LFD Assists Delmar On Grain Fire

On Thursday January the 12th at approx. 1548 hours the LFD was alerted to assist Delmar (74) and Salisbury (2) Fire Departments on a Grain Fire in Delmar. Engine 5 and 3, along with Tower 81 responded and arrived on scene within minutes apart. 74 Command advised the Engines to stage, and send up their manpower. Tower 81 was directed down between the grain tanks to attempt to gain access to the top catwalk. Salisbury and Delmar firefighters then utilized a pre-connected hose line from the basket of Tower 81 to extinguish the fire. Firefighters worked for approx. 2 hours on the catwalks conducting overhaul, and checking for fire extension. 74 Command placed incident under control with units working at 1750 hours. Last units were placed in service at 1829 hours. Delmar Fire Chief Jeff Kowalski had Command of Incident.
