House Fire In Bethel

On Tuesday night January 17th at approx. 2131 hours, the LFD, along with mutual aid dispatch sending Blades and Sharptown Fire Departments to assist, were alerted for a House fire on Main Street in Bethel. Deputy Chief Jeff Hill arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the structure. Engine 4 arrived and crew advanced a 1-¾ hose line into the structure. E71-5 (Blades) arrived and pulled an additional 1-¾ hose line as a back up line for the first in crew. Tower 81 arrived and crew laddered the roof and prepared for ventilation. Interior crews reported fire was knocked down and ventilation was held off. Additional units from Laurel and Blades would arrive and provide support on scene. Sharptown units arrived and provided a RIT team and staffed an engine on scene in case of a second emergency in Laurel. Deputy Chief Hill placed incident under control at 2207 hours. The fire was contained to the kitchen area, leaving smoke damage throughout the house. Last units were back in service at 2252 hours.
