LFD Assists Gumboro On Woods Fire

On Friday March the 10th at approx. 1016 hours, the LFD was alerted to assist the Gumboro Fire Company on a woods fire on Laurel road. Brush 81 and Engine/Tanker 5 arrived on scene and was advised by 79 Command to assist the firefighters with fire extinguishment. Gumboro and Millsboro firefighters had the fire contained and we assisted them with hot spots throughout the wooded area. Firefighters continued to water down the area, and foam was utilized to assure the fire was out, due to heavy wind conditions. The forestry responded and made a fire break around the perimeter. 79 Command placed the incident under control at 1038 hours. Last 81 units were back in service at 1150 hours.
