High Angle Rescue

On Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 1216 hours Sussex E.O.C. alerted Station 71, Station 81, & Medic 102 for a High Angle Rescue at Perdue Agri-Recylce on Seaford Road. Command 71 responded with 71-16 (D. Ruff). Once on scene command found one subject dangling off the side of the structure. Blades Career EMT-B J.Hill, had radio communication with the crew on top of the structure.

The crew from Tower 81 arrived on scene under the direction of Captain Chaffinch. Command had the crew deploy the tower out to the patient. The initial deployment of the tower put the crew approximately 6 feet away from patient.

At this time Command requested additional resources including: Salisbury Technical Rescue Team, and Ladder 42 (Milford) a 110'' Ladder.

Tower 81 was repositioned and deployed again. At this time, Captain''s Boyce & West were able to reach the patient and bring him safely down to be assessed by EMS Crews. Additional responding resources were placed in service by 71 command. It took crews approximately 30 minutes to rescue the victim.
