Boaters In Distress- Portsville Pond

On Monday, March 5, 2007 at 1239 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Stations 81, 71, 87, Medic 102 & Trooper 2 for a reported Water Rescue at Portsville Pond.

81 Command Responded with Fire Chief Mark Sheridan. Chief Sheridan arrived on scene to find two subjects in a boat, using buckets to throw water from inside the vessel. Trooper 2 was in the air and maintained a visual of the boaters.

Marine 81 arrived on scene and put the boat over at the Portsville Pond Boat Dock. Captain Tim West and Diver Kevin Brumbley boarded Marine 81 and make contact with the boaters in distress.

Once the boaters were on board, rescue crews then towed the other boat to shore.

No injuries were reported.

Chief Sheridan terminated command shortly after 1315 hours.
