Working House Fire - E. Sixth Street

On Sat. morning Jan 17th in 8 degree temperatures, LFD was alerted for an appliance fire in the 300 block of E Sixth Street. The time of the call was 07:54 hours. Asst Chief Jeff Hill responded as 81 Command. Hill arrived on scene to find heavy smoke from a two and half story wood balloon construction residence. He established Command and immediately upgraded the alarm to a working alarm. Sharptown and Delmar Companies along with Medic 102 were alerted. Upon arrival Blades Fire Company was requested to the scene also. Engine 81-2 responded with NREMT Doug Butler as Officer. Tower 81 responded with Deputy Chief Mike Lowe, who assumed Operations. Engine 81-4 was second on scene with Asst. Chief Tim Walker who took interior operations. 74-2 arrived with Asst Chief Darin Scott and assisted with interior operations and ventilation. Truck 14 arrived Deputy Chief Billy White and established Staging and R.I.T. The Fire damage was contained to a rear wall and second floor. Seaford Fire Dept. was alerted to stand-by at Laurel. Units cleared at about 9:45 hours.
