Friday, July 17, 2009

On July 17th at 10:40 hours LFD, Medic 102 and Trooper 2 were alerted for an MVC in the 30000 block of Seaford Road. Deputy Chief Mike Lowe responded as 81 Command. Upon arrival Lowe found a vehicle had struck a pole and was on fire. The victim had been removed from the vehicle by civilians on scene. The civilians and officers from Laurel Police Dept. were preforming C.P.R. Lowe immediately ordered the crew from A-81 to come off the unit with their A.E.D. Engine 81-2 arrived on scene with F/F Paramedic Alan Schweitzer as officer and began attacking the Fire. Rescue 81 arrived and assisted the E.M.S. Crew. The victim was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and at last report was alive. We salute Richard Parker, Wayne Rix (neighbors who removed the victim from the vehicle). Gayle Bruce who placed the 911 Call, as well as the crew from Medic 102 and A-81 on a job very well done !
