On August 30th 2009 at 0614 hrs, the Laurel Fire Department along with SCEMS and Lifenet Aviation were alerted for a single motor vehicle accident. Assistant Chief Jeff Hill responded in Command and found a single vehicle that had traveled off the roadway through a fence and several yards, finally coming to rest after striking a tree. Rescue 81 responded with Assistant Chief Whaley. Command advised units responding to come on scene and prepare for a single extrication. Rescue 81 and Engine 81-2 arrived on scene and initiated extrication while others assisted EMS. Engine 81-4 arrived on scene and crews were advised to setup a landing zone in the empty lot just west of the scene. Lifenet 2 arrived shortly thereafter. Patient was extricated and packaged by EMS and loaded into Lifenet 2. Assistant Chief Hill placed situation under control at 0647 hrs. Units remained on scene several minutes for cleanup.
