On Saturday evening the LFD was alerted for a structure fire at the Laurel middle school. Asst. Chief West responded in Command 81 and arrived to find a light smoke condition in the Gym. E-4 arrived under direction of Deputy Chief Sheridan. Sheridan and crew began a search of the gym for the source using thermal imaging. Tower 81 arrived and set up on the C side of the building. Firefighters were able to determine the source of the smoke was coming from malfunctioning ballast. The breaker was secured to the lights in the gym and units cleared without further incident.
