Kitchen Fire on Dewey Street

At approximately 17:45 hours on Oct. 2nd, LFD, Sharptown and Delmar were alerted for a building fire on Dewey Street. Asst. Chief Tim West responded as Incident Commander and arrived to find smoke evident from a multi-family occupancy. Eng. 81-4 arrived with F/F Alan Schweitzer as officer, made entry and found the fire to be contained to the Kitchen. Leaving a pot on the stove was to blame as the cause. Units from Sharptown and Delmar were advised to return. Crews remained on the scene for about 30 minutes.
